I used the title “Discover Your Niche” although our main objective is to find a successful niche - profit usually defines success although traffic usually plays a large part in this. Before we jump into this for those who are unsure of what a niche is we will explain it below.

What Is A Niche

Seeking out and discovering smaller segments of what usually are already established markets. A profitable niche is a sector of the market where the demand is high but there is little competition this allows your website to be the dominant force within your chosen niche this is likely to encourage other webmasters or internet users to link to your website while discussing your niche in online groups, forums and article / informative websites.

Finding a profitable niche is not as hard as you may think but finding a profitable niche where a video website can be a success is a little harder. First i would suggest wiping your mind of becoming the next Youtube or Dailymotion it’s unlikely and foolish to think your going to be as big and successful in terms of revenue as they are, the secret like the title suggests is finding a good solid niche that is likely to keep on growing where theres an abundance of products to sell alongside that niche or theres a high enough demand to introduce a subscription service to your website.

Market Research

Market research is basically the term used to gather information, in this case it will be about your chosen niche. Analyzing the data we collect will be extremely important so i would advise people doing market research to write or bookmark everything they find of importance. We will be looking for the following things;

Do people in this market spend money?

How old are users in this niche?

Are they old enough to purchase items online?

Is the market visually appealing?

The last point of visual appeal is in the case of video websites the most important, a video website based around stamp collecting is going to fail it simply won’t attract users whereas a wildlife only video website or even better going further into the wildlife niche - Birdwatching would provide a very good opportunity to launch a video website as bird watching is a hobby enjoyed by millions around the world. In addition to birdwatching but staying within the wildlife niche there is also - Fishing (bass fishing is an extremely popular niche) and the Safari/wildlife holiday niche.

How Does One Profit From A Niche?

Profitable niche’s usually have products inwhich demand is high, if there is no products available for your niche then it’s not going to be profitable for you unless you can create your own product, something that 99% of you will not know how to do.
